Creating new Christmas traditions with Personal CreationsDecember 5, 2013byJen Jamar1 Comment
Im really psyched that Personal Creations is sponsoring this post and helping me create new holiday traditions for my family this year.
Last year was a tough one. Jason had moved out in the fall and there were a lot of feelings about the divorce and everything going on that came bubbling upwhen I unpacked the Christmas ornaments. This year, pulling out all of the decorations has a whole different feel.
For one, Mykl was (I hope) joking with me about being a hoarder the entire time I was hauling up boxes of Christmas decorations from the basement. Were both excited to spend our first Christmas together this year. Even better, we get to create all new family traditions for our kids now that were one big family.
Thats wherePersonal Creationshas come in. Theyve made it really easy to add a personal touch to our home as we decorate for the holidays.
As I was unpacking the boxes of Christmas stuff I had in the basement, I found 10 different Christmas stockings. TEN.
I tend to collect Christmas stuff over the years and not get rid of it. Last year it was just me & Levi. Why the heck did I keep 10 stockings?
Since were starting new traditions, Mykl and I decided to scrap the old and start over. We browsed through theStocking Wonderland from Personal Creationsand picked some that I think fit our family really well: Sock Monkeys.
Confession: I feel a little more grown-up having matching stockings hanging on my fireplace mantle. I love that I was able to create a picturesque feel, but still have unique Christmas stockings that are cute, fun, AND personalized for each member of our family.
The kids are going to go nuts when they see that the sock monkeys are detachable.
The little stuffed monkeys can be stuffed in the stocking pockets, hung as tree ornaments, or played with as toys by themselves.
Im also excited that Im doing it all with Mykl. When I was browsing Personal Creations for our new Christmas stockings, I couldnt resist ordering an ornament to mark our first Christmas together.
They have a great selection of couples & family ornaments in theirOrnament Workshopsection that can be personalized with first names, family names, and dates. I think next year Im going to order the personalized Sock Monkey ornaments for all of us.
For this year, I stuck with a family ornament that has all 5 of our names. Its on backorder at the moment, but should be here in time for our big decorating day this weekend.
All of them are home with us this weekend, so Mykl and I get to unveil our next new tradition breakfast with Santa and Christmas tree shopping. Im excited to spend the day doing family Christmas stuff and decorating the house with Tillie, Lucy, and Levi.
