Glasgow City Centre, Custom House Quay
Plans have been submitted to Glasgow City Council for a new 209 room waterfront hotel in Clyde Street. The 24m project will incorporate the A-listed Custom House and significant new build on an adjacent site.
The development will make use of the Custom House accommodation as the front of house elements for the hotel. The existing outbuildings will be demolished and the new build element, with its bold geometric exterior design, will fill a gap site on Dixon Street.
Hotel operator Double Tree by Hilton are already on board as tenants for the new hotel, which could be completed during 2014.
Between 2003 and 2014 Clyde Waterfront was a strategic partnership comprising the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City, Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire Councils. Its purpose was to promote the economic, social and environmental regeneration of 13 miles of the River Clyde from Glasgow city centre to Dumbarton.
