Client Server Network

A network where several computers are connected to one or more servers

Security is better because it is centralised and the network manager has responsibility

Data is all held on the file server meaning users have access to the same set of data

Backups are taken centrally by the network manager

Servers are usually extra powerful meaning that access to files and data is quick

Usernames, passwords and help are performed centrally so users need not worry

More expensive due to server and network manager costs

Need a specialist who understands networks at a high level

They are larger so software costs and problems are multiplied

If it breaks down then the whole network is unusable
